( Ignorance is bliss, they say, and in this instance they'd be right. Luffy has no idea Nami has taken chunks out of Shanks over the werewolf ordeal... )
I'd say we're overdue for a chat, just you and me. And there are a few things I owe you a better explanation for.
Meet me in the garden outside the dojo?
( shanks is already there, sitting on a bench overlooking the koi pond. there's a crisp winter chill in the air, but it's almost offset by the heat radiating from inside the dojo — a kiss of warmth to sooth the bite of cold. )
( Even to Luffy it sounds a little concerning, but as usual he brushes that thought off. )
see you soon!!
( Soon being fifteen minutes as Luffy makes he way over to Shanks. It is quickly apparent to anyone that the pirate captain had been at the kitchens when the message came through, Luffy carrying a small bag of sandwiches that may or may not have been swiped.
Even his clothing has changed for the season, the closet providing his dungarees in an attempt to provide some warmth. )
Shanks! ( As always, Luffy is delighted to see the redhead, beelining on over with a wave. )
( shanks smiles when he feels luffy approach, a burst of infectious red energy entering his awareness — of course he does. it's hard not to. but there is something a little melancholy about it hidden in the creases of his eyes, betraying the lingering guilt he's felt for leaving this unspoken for so long.
he waves back, patting the space next to him on the bench. )
Luffy. ( he chuckles softly when he spots the bag, which he assumes contain snacks of some kind. ) You came prepared, I see.
Yeah, I was in the kitchens when you messaged so I thought why not.
( The bag of food is placed on the bench between them as Luffy takes a seat, seemingly unperturbed by the summons. He's starting to come to terms with the fact Shanks is their own person, their own captain with a different crew. Shanks is wont to do his own thing and in a way, despite how horrific werewolf had been it has helped a little in Luffy's independence.
The death thing still hurts, however, as there's only so many times the young captain can tell himself there had to be a reason before it wears off. But the feeling is stashed away as Luffy tries not to look back on it too often and he gives another grin, nose wrinkling with the motion. )
Help yourself, but if they have tomato in then you can take it out; fromage loves them.
